MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF FLY ASH FILLED, WOVEN BANANA FIBER REINFORCED HYBRID COMPOSITES AS WOOD SUBSTITUTE

Abstract
In this work, the effort is made to utilize the abundantly available industrial and agricultural wastes to develop a high performance, economical composite to replace wood and conventional wood substitutes. The fly ash is collected from a local thermal power station and woven banana fiber mate is collected form a weavers association. The composite plates are developed using polyester with these wastes. The experiments are carried out with the aid of Design Experts (Design of Experiment) software. The developed composites specimens are tested for tensile, flexural strengths. And the results are validated with Anova-One way approach. Finally the properties of developed composite are compared with the corresponding properties of wood and conventional wood substitute. The developed composite exhibit superior performance comparatively
