Abstract
Utter natural complete darkness is becoming a scarce commodity in our daily routine. This type of darkness has never been used as a theme for creating a differentiated experience. The theme of this work is to provide insights into the implications of complete natural darkness and the role of ‘experience differentiation' rather than ‘product or price differentiation'. The concept of using complete natural darkness is explored from various perspectives to see how it raises the threshold of experience economy approaches. The implications of how natural darkness triggers a new collection of ‘experience economy' constructs are proposed through a framework at the conclusion. Despite the limitations of rare literature and the need for further testing, this work opens a field of study that might help the human mindset be inspired by the ‘unexploited necessities' and the ‘hidden competencies' that such environment experience offers. The work might be a game-changer for post-COVID-19 pandemic human mental health wellness.
