Abstract
There are indications that the field of educational technology is gearing up to begin foundation work of the kind is so essential. Recent articles written by Roblyer serve both as an acknowledgement of past failures and a rallying exclamation for new attacks on the problem of providing a sound research base for technology in teaching. The field is beginning to resound with the call for a new educational technology research agenda—one that focuses on capturing the unique impact of technology-enhanced instructional designs, rather than of the digital technologies, themselves.
