Abstract
At the time when the Marathas were expanding their empire in South India, the condition of India had become very deplorable. Ahmad Shah Abdali started attacking India. Here the Marathas were also marching up to the Chambal river. In 1752 AD, a treaty was signed between the Mughals and the Marathas. According to this treaty, the Mughals had promised 50 lakhs to the Marathas. In return, the Marathas took the responsibility of their security upon themselves.
