Abstract
Harput which is located in Elazığ has become the important settlement since ancient times because of the geographical location and therefore, it came under domination of many states. Many foundations such as mosques, madrasa, prayer room and dervish lodges were built in Harput with the settlement of Turkish-Muslim elements into the region after the Battle of Malazgirt. Grand Mosque which is one of these foundations that was built in the period of Artuqid ruler Fahrettin Karaaslan in 11th century has contributed to develop the social and cultural aspects of the society because it has an important role in the city’s physical structure. This extant structure that has continued the function of Ottoman period has a very important place in the history of Harput. In this study, it has been given information about the architectural features of the Grand Mosque that has started to serve in Harput in 17th century and the foundations. Moreover; the functioning of the foundation, the type of the revenue sources, the type of staffs, and the salaries of the staff have been discussed.
