The Factors Of Peripheral Urbanization Process: Elazıg Model/Periferik Kentleşme Sürecinin Etkenleri: Elazığ Modeli

There are two basic areas that shapes the urban land use. First area ıs the land with the city center function. Second area is the urban environment that sorround the city centres and affected by the effects of the city center. The term known as peripheral urbanization, development in the city is related to the changing of boundaries of the city. Most of the lands ın urban fringes are use for agricultural or non agrıcultural purposes or lands that can not be used because of their natural qualities. There are many factors which some are due to the country or globe that effects the urban fringes lands which leads to the rapid or slow growth of the city and its sorroundings. Even the geological and hydrologically unfavourable lands can be open for settlement, in this way the city's physiognomy can be change. peripheral urbanization often means the growth of urban areas to the detriment of rural areas. Many natural and human factors are playing a better role in city's expansion direction, speed and frequency working on the basis of Elaziğ model. We have tried to give the basic factors that expand the city's periphery, it gives the examples on how the significant changes occur in the history of Elazig on the direction of city's span changes with examples. Administrative decisions transport networks, transmision lines, analysis was made on how the electrical network can actually initiate a process that can cause a drastic change in the extent of urban spaces.
