Abstract
Streaming potentials and streaming currents developed during the streaming of water and aqueous solutions of NaCl, KCl and MgCl2 in the concentration range 10-4 to 10-4 mol/l through progesterone plug membrane have been measured and their dependence on applied pressure differences has been investigated. The results have been explained on the basis of the theory of non-equilibrium thermodynamics. It has been observed that streaming potentials and streaming currents both depend linearly on applied pressure differences and Saxen?s relationship holds good.
