DEVELOPMENT OF AN E-LEARNING SYSTEM FOR OPEN AND DISTANCE LEARNING MODE OF EDUCATION SYSTEM: A NORTH-EAST INDIAN PERSPECTIVE

At present time, for a major portion of the people to pursue higher education in North East Indian region, Open and Distance Learning is not an option but a compulsion. In this mode of education system students are deprived of regular face-toface teaching or both learners and teacher's has less opportunity to interact physically in their teaching and learning process, so students support services (SSS) are essential component and are performing pivotal role for an open and distance learning institutions in teaching-learning and evaluation process, but the system of delivery of teaching-learning materials in time is a challenging task for these ODL institutions. The main aim of this study is to design and develop an interactive E-learning platform that can be used to enhance the teaching and learning process of open and distance learning institutions. This system can enable students and teachers to effectively interact in a virtual learning environment.
