Abstract
In India Population growth as well as power demand drastically increases day by day simultaneously to find the out the alternative and promising energy sources for the existing demand. The country is hurriedly investigating and adopting a variety of innovative characteristics, such as smart grids and renewable technology, to maintain the pace of development while also taking fuel and environmental aspects into account. With the "go green" policy, the GoI and other authorities are taking a number of initiatives. One of these earliest pilot projects in India is the smart grid project in Mangalore. The Smart Grid has incorporated rooftop solar PV systems as renewable energy sources. A survey of electricity users was performed, focusing on usage over various time periods, the availability of space for a rooftop solar PV system, and users' experiences with this technology. The survey's findings and the effects of government measures are also thoroughly explored.
