Abstract

Study objective: The study aims to find out the degree of dependence of Jordanian voters on social media platforms as a source of information about the Jordanian parliamentary elections (2020) during the emerging Corona pandemic, and to study the cognitive, emotional and behavioral effects of this dependence on their behavior during the election period. Methodology: (450) subjects completed two parts questionnaire. The first part was about the subjects' demographics and the second part was about the Jordanian attitudes towards following these platforms for the elections, and their effects on their electoral behavior. The data were analyzed using (SPSS IBM v. 25), and the study also relied on descriptive statistics, (T) test, single variance analysis, dimensional variance analysis, and Spearman correlation coefficient. Results: The study found a positive correlation between the degree of respondents' dependence on social media platforms as a source of information about the Jordanian parliamentary elections in 2020 and their attitudes towards the follow-up of these platforms to the electoral process. Moreover, there is a direct relation between the voters' dependance on these platforms and their behavior during the election process.
