The Level of Academic Self-Efficacy among Female Students of Science and Humanities College in Jubail during Distance Education in Light of the Corona Pandemic

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the level of academic self-efficacy among female students of the College of Science and Humanities, at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University, during distance education in light of the Corona pandemic. The two researchers used the relational descriptive approach in the study, and the study population consisted of all the female students of the College of Science and Humanities at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, whose number is (1200) female students, and the actual study sample consisted of (297) female students. The sample is divided into two specializations: the scientific specialization, which amounts to (128) female students, and the humanities specialization, which is (169) female students, and the research used the Academic Self-Effectiveness Scale prepared by the two researchers, after reviewing the research literature related to the subject of the study, and the scale consists of (30) paragraphs distributed on the axes of motivation towards learning, basic skills and interaction with the professor and colleagues, and the results of the study showed a high level of motivation towards learning among students from the viewpoint of the study sample members, as well as the high level of basic skills among the students from the viewpoint of the study sample members, and it shows high level of interaction with the professor and colleagues of the female students from the point of view of the study sample, and it was found that the level of academic self-efficacy among the sample members is high, which confirms that distance education did not negatively affect the students' self-efficacy. As a result of the current conditions in light of the Corona pandemic, the results also reveal the existence of statistically significant differences in the total degree of the Academic Self-Effectiveness Scale that attributes to the variable of scientific specialization and in favor of scientific specializations.
