Abstract
The community always strives to optimize the use of alternative energy through the potential of natural resources. Indonesia's natural potential, whose land is mostly mountainous, is very feasible to be developed into a small-scale alternative energy source by utilizing river water flows in mountainous areas. The development of power generation units is very necessary to analyze and consider the reliability of water discharge, intake civil building components, rapid pipes, power houses, and tailraces, electric turbines, cross flow multi nozzles and generators. The method of carrying out the study activities is by conducting a direct survey to the field, collecting data and conducting technical measurements of the power plant and network. The collected data is then processed and evaluated which can then be used in technical planning and design. The results of the analysis of the initial study of planning for the micro-hydro power plant concluded that it was feasible to build using a multi-nozzle Cross flow turbine and generator in Pesondongan village as the leading area of north Toraja regency, South Sulawesi province, the population is mostly farmers. The development of this power plant is feasible with a water discharge of 0.361 m3 /s per second with a head of 29.15 m which can generate 30 kW of electricity and can reach public electricity services and environmental sustainability.
