Psychological features of the development of professionally important qualities of the future psychologist in an institution of higher education

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of development of professionally important qualities of future psychologists. It was found that professionally important personal qualities are a complex of the most important individual psychological and psychophysiological personal properties of a person, which are sufficient and necessary for the successful performance of activities at the normative level. It was established that the development of professionally important qualities of future psychologists is a condition for the professional formation of specialists. It includes self-improvement, self-education, self-education and self-knowledge in the field of psychology. Its goal is to achieve success in mastering future professional activities. The structure of professionally important qualities of psychologists is defined as a complex integral personal formation, which includes the following components: motivational, regulatory-volitional, communicative, reflective-evaluative. On the basis of the conducted empirical research, it was found that the levels of formation of professionally important qualities of future psychologists among students of higher education of the 2nd and 3rd years have low indicators, which indicates the insufficiency of their development at these stages of professional training. It was established that such components as motivation to achieve success, motivation to avoid failure, volitional self-regulation, self-control, empathy, and reflexivity do not differ among students of higher education of the mentioned courses. The following qualities, such as: the level of professional orientation, insistence, communicative tolerance, according to the average values of these indicators, differ in the groups of the 2nd and 3rd courses, which is statistically confirmed. Therefore, the conducted study confirms that the development of professionally important qualities of psychologists is a condition for the professional development of future specialists during their studies at a higher education institution, starting from the 1st year of study.
