Association of Covid 19 with Anxiety: An Integrative Review

Abstract

Objective: this study aims to describe the association of covid 19 with anxiety. Methodology: This study is an integrative literature review, supported by journals published in PUBMED databases and in the Virtual Health Library (VHL). Results: XX articles were selected for this review. In which 20 met the inclusion criteria, and after reading the full texts, a total of 23 studies were selected, these studies were published between the years 2020 to 2022, at the height of the pandemic caused by COVID-19. Discussion: due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its repercussions on the mental health of the majority of the population, especially among health workers, it was found that most health workers experienced symptoms such as depression (77.6% of respondents), stress ( 76.4% of respondents), anxiety (60.2% of respondents), insomnia (50.4% of respondents), The mental health of individuals was affected differently during the COVID-19 pandemic, which demonstrated that the effects (depression and anxiety ) were more severely experienced by women, who were considered to be a greater predictor of post-traumatic stress disorder after the pandemic. Conclusion: With this study, the scientific information that relates the COVID-19 infection with anxiety is expanded, in this way, the results found in this work, will serve as a basis for the planning of professional measures, which interfere in the psychological worsening of people.
