Abstract
The aim of our research is to find out whether there is an influence of extracurricular sports activity on children's cognitive abilities. Even if there is a significant difference between the disciplines in the level of intelligence in school children. A sample of 55 athletic students, aged between 6 and 10, from primary schools in the city of Oran (Algeria). The students were followed for five school terms. Socio-demographic data was collected through a questionnaire intended for students of both groups and academic results obtained from the administration at the end of each term. A "CPM" intelligence test was administered at the end of the fifth trimester to assess the main cognitive abilities of athletic student
