Tradition and AVANT-GARDE in the Cultural Proposal of Socialist Realism

The conformation of the cultural proposal of socialist realism corresponds to the articulation of the representative symbology of international socialism. For this it is necessary to determine the artistic principles on which the project is structured. The antecedent cultural tradition constitutes a carrier heritage of the socially recognized codes, in turn it is the representation of the social form that is intended to be denied with the revolution. For its part, the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century constitutes a proposal that is formally revolutionary and representative of contemporary society. From the confluence of these forms within the Russian revolution arises socialist realism. Taking into account this conflictive reality of the process of construction of the cultural project of socialist realism, this paper proposes to establish general lines regarding how it deals with the relationship between tradition and artistic avant-garde
