SCIENTOMETRIC ANLAYSIS OF ECOLOGY RESEARCH OUTPUT IN SRI LANKA

Abstract
The present study focus on the pattern of information published by researchers in ecology in Sri Lanka. The study analyses the growth and development of publication output from the data derived from Web of Science. Web of Science was used to identify relevant publications and the 826 publications were identified and analysed. The literature was analysed to ascertain forms of publications, authorship patterns, authorship distribution, author productivity, institution-wise performance, and distribution of articles in journals. The publications of researchers were in the form of journals, notes, letters, review, editorial materials, meeting-abstracts, bibliographicitems and discussions. Ecological research does not always show an immediate benefit to the society and nation at large. This study pave way for an important and ever green life for all living organism. Study provides better understanding of our environment within Sri Lanka and ecological data assist us to solve social and environmental problems. The paper describes that the Ecology publications total number of records found 826 from 2015-2019. The Year wise publications and Degree of collaboration of publication were found. Relative Growth Rate has been increasing from 2017, 2018 to 2019. This study aimed to assess the most influential publications as well as the research trends and important drivers in the field of Ecology.
