Abstract
Different effects of climate change on ecosystem and biodiversity cause adverse conditions in agricultural activities. Research conducted by FAO, around the world predicts that the decline in agricultural biodiversity due to climate change will continue in the next 30 years and ecosystems will be under increasing pressure. These adverse conditions will complicate agricultural production and limit access to food. The aim of this study is to reveal the expected food insecurity risk in the future by examining the effects of climate change on agricultural biodiversity in the Mediterranean region, where Turkey is located. In this context, in this study, the current situation and future projections of the Mediterranean region in terms of agricultural biodiversity loss and food insecurity were evaluated within the framework of the data obtained by FAO, World Bank, Berkley Earth and Climate Watch. In addition, ecological policies to be taken to prevent climate disaster and ensure food security until 2050 are also included.
