Abstract

A ferromagnetic liquid crystal (LC) was created by scattering ferromagnetic nanoparticles in a thermotropic LC, and its magnetodielectric and magneto viscosity properties were investigated in this work. Because of its lower rotating viscosity and splay elastic constant, ferronematic LCs are superior to pure LCs for application in devices. Because of their peculiar magnetodielectric and magnetoviscosity response, even in modest magnetic fields, ferromagnetic LCs may find value in smart fluid applications
