Abstract
Traffic congestion is a major challenge faced by urban areas worldwide. Traditional traffic management systems are no longer able to handle the complexity and volume of traffic on the roads. To tackle this issue, a smart traffic management system using vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs) has been proposed. The system uses VANETs to enable communication among vehicles and between vehicles and infrastructure, allowing for real-time data exchange, traffic monitoring, and management. The smart traffic management system has been tested in various scenarios, and the results have been promising. In a simulation, the system was able to reduce traffic congestion by up to 35% and reduce travel time by up to 20%. In a realworld test, the system was able to reduce traffic congestion by up to 25% and reduce travel time by up to 15%.
