Abstract
In order to enhance the mechanical and durability features of cement-based mortar, this study investigated the use of epoxy resin polymer as a self-healing approach. Microstructural analysis, compressive strength, and non-destructive tests were used to assess the healing efficacy of concrete modified with varying concentrations of epoxy resin. Silica powder was used as a filler in polymer concrete. It is possible that the physical characteristics and mechanical strength of polymer concrete might be improved by using leftover silica powder as a filler. Researchers looked at the mechanical qualities of PCs made with a range of filler types and resin concentrations. Polymer concrete using silica powder as a filler increased in compressive strength by a factor of four when compared to cement concrete. Compressive, flexural, and tensile strengths of the cast PCs were also studied. Two different epoxy resin concentrations (20% and 15%) with 200% filler were found to provide the strongest mechanical samples. The material's strengths were 128.9 MPa in compression, 22.5 MPa in flexure, and 16.2 MPa in tension.
