Abstract
Craftspeople in India are renowned for their attention to detail, superior use of materials, and innovative approaches to design and shape, not to mention their unparalleled eye for color. The role of the artisan in this mostly agrarian civilization is crucial since it allows the community to function independently. This industry not only preserves the country's cultural traditions, but it also employs a sizable number of people who live in rural and semi-urban regions. Lack of organization, education, finance, exposure to novel innovations, knowledge of the market, and a strong institutional framework are all factors contributing to the sector's problems. Because of their lack of education, resources, and access to markets, artisans must rely on intermediaries to acquire their supplies and sell their final goods. How effectively artists can cater their wares to market need is a major factor in the success of handcraft.
