One of the fields that actively suffer from the evils of corruption is ecology. The tandem of illegal enrichment and problems in the nature protection industry repels Ukraine's desire for development and introduces obstacles to joining the European Union. Constitutionally recognizing the right of access to information about the environment, since 1998 the state environmental monitoring system has been functioning, which is vested with the relevant authorized entities, but some questions arise regarding the effectiveness of its activities. At the time of writing this article, in addition to the highlighted problems, one of the catalysts for the development of unjust enrichment in the environmental sphere is the human factor, namely the indifference of some citizens to the ecological state of the area in which they live.
