Disaster Preparedness of the Residents of Tabuk City: An Assessment

Abstract

The descriptive survey method was employed and used a set of a questionnaire in gathering needed data in the study. The study revealed that the majority of the respondents who contributed to the study were males, the majority were college level, and the majority were within the age group 41–50. The majority of the respondents claimed that they had enough knowledge of hazards and disasters imparted to them by the concern of non-government organizations and government organizations at the barangay hall, school, and media. Thus, from the findings, respondents were aware and given knowledge on disaster preparedness they acquired at barangay and school through seminars, pieces of training, and drills they participated in. The results of the findings are very much appreciated the best practices to enhance the disaster preparedness of the residents of Tabuk City: 1. Residents should religiously apply what they have learned from the pieces of training and simulations imparted to them by the governments and non-government organizations. 2. Disaster preparedness practices of the residents of Tabuk City should be followed by other residents.
