Synthesis of 4-para-tolyl-1,2,3-thiadiazole

Initially, p-methylacetophenone carbethoxyhydrazone was synthesized by condensation of p-methylacetophenone obtained under laboratory conditions with carbethoxyhydrazine in an alcohol medium in the presence of glacial acetic acid as a catalyst. Finally, 4-p-tolyl-1,2,3-thiadiazole was  synthesized by treating p-methylacetophenone carbethoxyhydrazone with thionyl chloride. All syntheses were reproduced.
