Abstract
This study proposes to carry out a systematic review of the international scientific production on quality indicators and metrics of patents related to universities between the years of 1945 and 2018. The database consulted was the Social Sciences Citation Index (Web of Science). The results indicate that 88% of the studies are of a quantitative nature, and the most used metric to evaluate the quality of patents is the subsequent citation of patents. Others metrics were indicated, such as a) The relative Citation Index (RCI), b) Scientific productivity of the inventor, c) Previous patent citation, d) Number of patents accepted, e) Number of patent applications
