Abstract
Today, the aspects related to the protection of public order and security are regulated by the norms of international law, and, over time, the international community aims to achieve certain objectives, such as to realize recommendations and to develop standards regarding the activity of police bodies from different states, as well as other public authorities with competencies in this field.
The special merit of the international community is unanimously recognized. It resides, first, in the recognition of the legal obligation of the protection of human rights and freedoms for the activity of the police, from which considerations, at the international level, several mechanisms for the protection of human rights have been established. They constitute a complex system of regulations and specialized institutions, and states, in most cases, must take over and incorporate these mechanisms into the national legal system.
