DETERMINATION OF THE STATE OF DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES IN MODERN ECONOMIC CONDITIONS

Introduction. Small and medium-sized businesses are the main component of the state's economy. Small and medium-sized enterprises perform a social function, namely, the creation of jobs for the population and professional training. Small business is mobile, quickly responds to market needs and changes, is profitable, offers unique products and services. Small and medium-sized business, individual entrepreneurship is the creation of new jobs, as well as an alternative to hired labour. The development of small and medium-sized businesses is important for the formation of the middle class of society in modern conditions. Purpose. The purpose of the article is to determine the state of development of small and medium-sized businesses in modern economic conditions. The tasks of the research are the assessment of the problems of the main segments of entrepreneurship, the study of limiting factors in their development and activity, the study of the needs for further existence and growth. Materials and methods. The theoretical and methodological basis of the dissertation research is a systematic approach to the study of the fundamental provisions of economic science regarding the formation of small and medium-sized businesses. In the process of studying this problem, a number of general scientific and special research methods were used, the main of which are the following: scientific abstraction, monographic, economic and statistical (for evaluating food security indicators). Graphic techniques are also used in the article. Legislative and normative legal acts, official materials and statistical analytical information, scientific works of domestic and foreign scientists on the research issues, and the results of the author's personal research became the information base of the research.
