Abstract
The article is devoted to the research and highlighting of the effectiveness of the model of prevention of criminal offenses through the concentration of police work in places of concentration of minor offenses called «Broken Windows». It has been established that conceptually, the model of prevention of criminal offenses through the concentration of police work in places of concentration of minor offenses «Broken Windows» is based on the provisions that the state of social and physical disorder causes potential offenders to feel the lack of proper law enforcement control, and ultimately leads to the commission of illegal actions due to the formed belief about the high probability of avoiding punishment. According to the conceptual provisions of the «Broken Windows» crime prevention model by concentrating police work in places where minor offenses are concentrated, criminal activity can be prevented if law enforcement officers apply increased law enforcement to areas where signs of disorder are observed, and local community resources are directed to eliminate this state of affairs. It has been established that scientific research and established law enforcement practice confirm the presence of contradictory evidence of the unequivocal relationship determining criminal activity with signs of physical and social disorder, and increased law enforcement in some places creates discrimination against less protected segments of the population. It was determined that a closer causal relationship between criminal activity exists between the level of the quality of life of the population and not the state of disorder. It has been protested that increased law enforcement and elimination of signs of breed disorder increases the status of trust in law enforcement officers on the part of the population, which contributes to an increase in the level of information exchange, which indirectly has a positive preventive effect on the state of the criminogenic situation.
