The book proposed for consideration "Das Schlesische und seine Sprecher: Etablierung in der Gesellschaft, Attitüden, Vitalität der Germanismen" is the result of a large-scale sociolinguistic project dedicated to modern language processes in Upper Silesia, a historical and cultural region in the south-west of Poland. Its authors are a group of well-known linguists who, among other things, specialize in the functioning of minority languages: Gerd Hentschel from Oldenburg University named after Karla von Ossetskyi, Jolanta Tabor from the University of Katowice and Istvan Fekete from the University of Media and Communication in Cologne.
