O.P. ROMANOV’S CONTRIBUTION TO THE FORMATION OF PEDAGOGICAL TRADITIONS OF THE HLUKHIV STATE PEDAGOGICAL INSTITUTION

Abstract
Introduction. For almost 150 years, Oleksandr Dovzhenko Hlukhiv National Pedagogical University has been training pedagogical staff for the national education system. Among the outstanding personalities of the university, the figure of the former head of the department of pedagogy and psychology, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor Oleksii Petrovych Romanov, whose contribution to the development of teacher training traditions can hardly be overestimated, stands out. Purpose. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to characterize the activity and pedagogical views of the head of the department of pedagogy and psychology of the Hlukhiv Pedagogical Institute, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor O.P. Romanov. Methods. Literature analysis, analogy, induction and deduction.Originality. The novelty of the work lies in substantiating the contribution of Professor O.P. Romanov to the formation and continuation of the traditions of teacher training at the Hlukhiv State Pedagogical Institute in the 60s-90s of the 20th century. Conclusion. The activities and pedagogical views of O.P. Romanov are still relevant today, in particular, career guidance for the profession of teacher, pedagogization of the educational process, formation of the image of a future teacher, adaptation of students to study and research. The developments made under the leadership of O.P. Romanov should be used in the current work of teacher education institutions, adapting them to the requirements of today. The history of Hlukhiv Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Pedagogical University is connected with the activities of many prominent teachers and scientists who worked in the 2nd half of the 20th century, in particular, V.I. Brynska, V.A. Mosiiashenko, V.A. Kubytskyi, L.K. Narochna, H.V. Kovalchuk, V.D. Symonenko, and others. The study of their views, pedagogical activity and contribution to teacher training is planned to be carried out in further research.
