Abstract
Broadcasting is one of the most fundamental operations in mobile ad hoc networks. Different from broadcast that requires a broadcast routing for transmission of large amount of data, Path finding processes in on-demand route discovery methods in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) use flooding. Source mobile node simply broadcast route request (RREQ) packet to its neighbour node and once again the neighbour node rebroadcast RREQ packet to its neighbour until unless route to a particular destination is found[1]. The excessive RREQ packet can lead collision problem and consume more bandwidth in the network and decrease network performance which creates broadcast storm problem. So In this paper we explain the different types of techniques for broadcasting the message. To avoid the simple flooding we can use different techniques like probability, cluster and area based methods.
