ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF THE WAR IN UKRAINE ON THE EXPORT POTENTIAL OF THE DOMESTIC FOOD INDUSTRY

Abstract

The article reviews the existing methods of assessing export potential, with an emphasis on the export potential of the industry, in particular the food industry. A list of indicators for evaluating the export potential of the food industry of Ukraine was defined and an analysis of their dynamics was carried out. The main changes in the dynamics of selected indicators after the start of a full-scale invasion were determined. Indicators by groups are summarized according to the characteristics of changes in their dynamics after the start of a full-scale invasion. Structural changes in the export of food industry products by commodity category were studied. The analysis of the dynamics of the selected indicators showed significant changes in the export potential of the food in‑ dustry of Ukraine in 2022, in particular, a significant reduction is observed in such indicators as the net volume of exports of food industry products, exports of food industry products per capita, the ratio of Ukrainian exports of food industry products to the global, coefficient efficiency of export of food industry products. It was also established that the food industry experienced a moderate reduction in export volumes compared to other branches of the domestic economy. The purpose of the work is to assess the export potential of the food industry of Ukraine under the influence of negative fac‑ tors of the external environment. The research methodology is based on the analysis of changes in the dynamics of indicators for evaluating the export potential of the food industry before and after the start of a full-scale invasion and structural changes in exports. The scientific novelty consists in the improvement of the methodical approach to the assessment of the export potential of the industry, namely, it is proposed to use the coefficient of export efficiency of the industry, which is an adapted version of the coefficient of export efficiency, which made it possible to apply the existing approaches to the assessment of the export po‑ tential of the country in general at the level of a separate industry. The practical significance lies in the fact that the results of the assessment of the impact of the war on the export potential of the Ukrainian food industry can be used to form strategies for the further development of the industry and export-­oriented strategies for the recovery and development of the domestic economy.
