Abstract
The present study, entitled Management of root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita on brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) with some plant extract, was conducted in the field of Department of Plant Protection, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agriculture, Technology & Sciences, Allahabad. Eight plant species viz. Marigold (Tagetes erecta), Jatropha (Jatropha curcas), Sanseveria (Sanseveria trifastiata), Saijan (Moringa oleifera), Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), Gwarpatha (Aloe vera), Dodder (Cuscuta reflexa) and Datura (Datura metal) were used for the study. The inoculum of nematode was extracted from infected brinjal root. In the experiment, the effect of plant leaf extract was studied by observing number of knots (root-knot index), shoot length, fresh shoot weight, root length and fresh root weight of the plant. All the treatments increased the plant growth parameters and reduced the incidence of root-knot nematode as compared to control (control with nematode only). Maximum reduction was obtained in Saijan and followed by Marigold, Ashwagandha and Datura.
