Abstract

This work is devoted to the analysis of the philosophical ideas of Thomas Hobbes, set out in his famous work "Leviathan". The research focuses on key Hobbesian concepts such as human nature, social contract, sovereignty and the state. The work examines the Hobbesian concept of the "natural state", characterized by the absence of order and the endless war of all against all. The role of the social contract as a mechanism of transition from a natural state to a civil society and the formation of an absolute sovereign is analyzed. The study conducts an in-depth analysis of the concept of sovereignty, considering it as a necessary condition for maintaining order and security in the state. The work highlights the importance of the sovereign as a guarantor of stability and an obstacle to chaos.
