Translation in Media Institutions: The Case of APS

Translation plays a significant role in the world of media. It makes information accessible by overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers. Consequently, media institutions often use professional translators to translate different types of media content. The study highlights the main challenges faced by translators at the Algerian Press Agency (APS), as well as the fundamental aspects of translation within the agency. We have found that translators encounter several challenges, such as speed, quality, attractiveness and adaptability. To deal with these problems, translators must work in close collaboration with specialists in the different fields covered. The development of writing and translation skills, as well as continuing education are also necessary to meet the demands of the journalistic field.
