Abstract
The study looks at how pronouns reference work in Arabic and English, showing both their similarities and differences. It uses a descriptive analytical approach to compare the two languages through the example of the story of Prophet Yusuf (PBUH). The study highlights that pronoun reference is important because it connects different parts of sentences. One key difference is that English only uses the pronoun "you" for addressing someone, whether it's one person, two people, or more. In contrast, Arabic has many different pronouns depending on whether you're speaking to one person, two people, or a group. Lastly, the English pronouns are not directly linked to the way they are used in the Quran, which means that Arabic and English have different grammar systems. This difference suggests that when translating from Arabic to English, it's important to be cautious to avoid forcing English grammar rules onto Arabic terms.
