FORMATION OF MORAL VALUES AMONG STUDENTS TO PREVENT ACADEMIC DISHONESTY

Abstract

Introduction.The formation of moral values among students is a key element in the prevention of academic dishonesty. The formation of moral values in students is a long-term process that requires systematic work and involvement of all participants in the educational process, which not only helps to reduce the level of academic dishonesty but also contributes to the education of responsible and ethically conscious citizens, which implies: integrating ethical issues into variousacademic disciplines so that students understand the importance of ethical behaviour in different contexts; teachers should act as mentors, helping students to develop moral values and ethical standards; encouraging students to participate in volunteer projects and community initiatives, which helps develop a sense of responsibility and empathy.urpose.The purpose of the article is to analyse the peculiarities of formation of moral values in students for the prevention of academic dishonesty.Methods.The following methods were used to achieve this goal: theoretical: analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalisation and systematisation of scientific, theoretical and practical provisions; study and generalisation of domestic and foreign pedagogical experience on the problem of forming moral values in students to prevent academic dishonesty; empirical: surveys, the method of expert assessments to substantiate the peculiarities of the formation of moral values in students for the prevention of academic dishonesty.Results. It is determined that academic integrity is the observance of moral and ethical principles in educational and research activities. It is established and substantiated that prevention of academic dishonesty is a set of measures aimed at preventing violations of academic ethics among students, teachers and researchers. The essence of the concept of «pedagogical prevention of academic dishonesty»is revealed.Originality. The formation of individual, social (universal), professional and corporate moral values that will contribute to the prevention of academic dishonesty requires joint efforts of individuals, educational and professional institutions, as well as the corporate environment.Conclusion. It has been established that the formation of moral values contributes to the reduction of academic dishonesty due to: teaching ethics and morality of academic integrity in educational and professional programmes; examining real-life ethical dilemmas and discussing the possible consequences of academic dishonesty; teachers and administrators of educational institutions who demonstrate high ethical standards serve as an example for students; teaching students to think critically and solve moral problems, which contributes to their understanding of the importance of academic integrity and ethical behaviour; Informing students about the consequences of academic dishonesty, both for themselves and for others, helps them understand the importance of adhering to academic integrity and ethical standards. The systematic and consistent formation of moral values among students creates a solid foundation for the prevention of academic dishonesty, contributing to the development of responsible and ethically conscious citizens
