RESULTS OF THE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION OF SOCIO-CULTURAL COMPETENCE FORMATIONOFFUTURE ENGLISH TEACHERS

Abstract

Introduction.The article presents the results of the implementation of the model of formation of sociocultural competence of future teachers of the English language in higher education institutions of Ukraine. The model of the formation of sociocultural competence of future teachers of the English language is revealed and graphically depicted, and the choice of 12 main indicators, which are important for its formation, is substantiated. The main methods by which the pedagogical experiment was carried out are described, namely: Fisher's angular transformation, Spearman's rank correlation, Chaddock's scale, Mann-Wintney's test.Purpose.The purpose of the article is to highlight the results of the implementation of the model of formation of socio-cultural competence of future foreign language teachers in higher education institutions of Ukraine.Methods.The methods of theoretical analysis, comparison, systematization and generalization were used to obtain the research results.Results.The experiment we conducted revealed a statistically significant increase in indicators of sociocultural competence of future teachers of foreign languages in the experimental group compared to the control group.Conducting the experiment made it possible to compare and summarize the experimental data, verify and evaluate the research results. The indicators of the experimental group significantly exceed the indicators of the control group, which, in our opinion, indicates the achievement of the objectives of the research work as a whole.The most significant increase in such indicators of socio-cultural competence as: level of motivation to carry out socio-cultural activities; the level of intra-personal need for the formation of socio-cultural competence; level of sociocultural knowledge; level of awareness of socio-cultural competence; the level of familiarity with the norms of behavior in a foreign language environment.For these indicators, the significance of the increase was confirmed using Fisher's angular transformation. The impact on indicators related to deep changes in the psychology of the respondent–such as his reflexivity, control skills or cross-cultural interaction is very difficult to implement within the limits of one special course.Conclusion.The obtained diagnostic data prove the effectiveness of the author's model of formation of socio-cultural competence of future foreign language teachers in higher institutions, which indicates the expediency of its use.
