Abstract

The study was conducted on 72-day old chicks of same hatch upto six weeks of age to investigate the effect of Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) on the growth performance of broilers. Chicks were randomly divided into four groups 18 chicks in each. Control group received standard broilers diet. Chicks in second, third, fourth group received standard broilers diet supplemented with Tulsi leaf powder @ 0.25, 0.50 and 1 per cent (TLP). There was a significant effect of different treatments of TLP supplementation in feed on body weight, average gain in weight (P<0.05). Significantly better FCR in broilers was observed in ration supplemented with 1.0% TLP. The minimum cost of production per broiler was in broiler fed with 1% TLP. From economic point of view, feed containing TLP 1.0% was better due to significantly lowest feed consumption and improved feed conversion ratio.
