PREREQUISITES FOR SCALING SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED BUSINESSES IN UKRAINE

Abstract

Introduction. Small and medium-sized businesses, which have long held a prominent position in the composition of the Ukrainian national economy, have the potential to expand the GDP, generate new employment opportunities, enhance the financial well-being of the population, and increase the social responsibility of business. Scaling is one of the primary methods of corporate development. You may correctly identify the tools to employ on the path to business scaling if you grasp what drives entrepreneurs to grow and what precisely is a prerequisite for business scaling. Purpose. This research aims to determine appropriate conditions for scaling small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine. Materials and methods. The materials of the research are as follows: (1) the works of domestic and foreign authors conducting their scientific and practical research in the field of business scaling; and (2) information publications containing statistical data, profile surveys and publications directly related to the topic of business scaling. The following scientific methods were used in the study: classification, analysis and systematic approach, logical generalisation of the results (to effectively process the available data and determine the results based on them). Results. The scientific article deals with statistical data related to the topic of business scaling. It stressed how crucial it is for Ukraine's small and medium-sized businesses to grow to support the country's economy. The prerequisites, that are available in Ukraine for scaling small and medium-sized businesses, are revealed. The role of the financial incentive for scaling small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine as the main one is determined. Knowledge of the prerequisites and main incentives for scaling contributes to the definition of strategies and the selection of the right tools for the implementation of the development of small and medium-sized businesses through scaling. Prospects. In future consistent research, it is worth continuing to analyse updated statistics and surveys related to the topic of small and medium-sized businesses in Ukraine. It is necessary to pay attention to the current factors that will inevitably affect the scaling of small and medium-sized businesses. Examine and categorise each scaling tool separately, and evaluate the contribution of digital tools to scaling. The result of this should be the development of effective strategies and tools for scaling small and medium-sized businesses, depending on their individualities.
