Abstract

The article examines the use of intertextuality in a literary work through the lens of Gérard Genette's concept. Special attention is given to the analysis of quotations, reminiscences, and allusions to works by Henry James, the poem “La Belle Dame,” Wagner's opera “The Valkyrie,” the legend of the Lady of Shalott, and the English folk song “Greensleeves.” These intertextual connections reveal how classical works influence the understanding of the plot and the creation of atmosphere in contemporary literature.
