Abstract
The article discusses modern methods of teaching geography with an emphasis on the study of geographical zonality. The main attention is paid to the principles and approaches that ensure the development of spatial thinking, environmental literacy and systemic perception of natural processes. Strategies based on the integration of digital technologies and an interdisciplinary approach are proposed. The analysis of pedagogical experience aimed at forming students' ideas about the patterns of change of natural complexes from the equator to the poles and from the lowlands to the mountains is presented.
