Abstract

Dear authors, reviewers, and readers of the Bolivian Journal of Sciences (JBC): It is a great pleasure to welcome you to Volume 17, Issue 51, Year 2021 of the JBC, in which I make my debut as Editor-in-Chief. First and foremost, I must express my gratitude to my predecessor, Joaquín Aquino, who has done a remarkable job over the past two years, shaping the journal, ensuring its growth and quality, and establishing it as a scientific reference for national academic publications. Given the journal's trajectory and credibility, I do not propose any immediate or radical changes under my leadership. However, JBC must continue evolving to ensure its timely indexation, while maintaining its publication schedule and featuring both national and international scientific articles. Peer review remains a crucial component of our article evaluation process, as there is strong consensus that accepted manuscripts improve significantly after incorporating reviewers' feedback and critiques. This explicit evaluation process also helps build trust among readers. I am fortunate to have the support of a highly efficient team, including Mayra Romero in the editorial office, who is, in other words, a key figure in the journal's publication process. However, my gratitude extends far beyond those directly involved in the journal's continuous operations. It also encompasses the authors who submit their manuscripts and collaborate with reviewers and editors to refine their work for publication.
