Abstract
Paper is a thin sheet prepared by paste plant fibers which are crushed, washed, blanched, dried and har dened later. The main raw material for manufacturing are trees where cellulose is obtained, which is why, each year approximately twenty million trees are cut, contributing to global warming and reducing biodiversity. Papermaking requires the use of water and bleaches. The paper industry consumes 27% of water for industrial use; chlorine for bleaching is used, chlorine bypro ducts (such as dioxins) are harmful to human health and are classified as carcinogenic. Stone paper is a paper manufactured by mineral base as calcium carbonate and non-toxic and polyethylene as a binder resin. The process of stone papermaking is clean, no trees or water are used and generates no toxic emissions, is free of chlorine, acids and very safe for the environment.
