Abstract
The relevance of this article, written in the context of a comparative analysis of terms in the field of space instrumentation, is due to the study of the space instrumentation international terminology on the example of the French language in comparison with Russian, English and Italian. The subject of this publication is the process of internationalization of terms, which acts as a constant companion of professional communication, replenishing the vocabulary of the host languages with new terminological units. The purpose of the article is to attempt a reasoning and generalizing coverage of the status of the French language as a donor of space instrumentation international terminological units. A review of the research of domestic and foreign scientists-terminologists in the period from the end of the twentieth century to the present is carried out. The scientific novelty of the study is seen in the development of a logical and conceptual classification of terms in the field of space instrumentation and the classification of the principles of the formation of terms and phrases in the French language. It is concluded that the French language is a donor of international terms, and not their recipient. Contributing to the consolidation of the French language in the status of an innovative language, its international terms are actively borrowed by other languages of professional communication in the field of space instrumentation due to their brevity and associativity. In the future, the author’s corpus of examples can be used to compile glossaries on individual topics within the framework of space instrumentation based on methods of extracting terms and terminological phrases from specialized technical dictionaries. The results obtained may be of interest to translators in the field of space instrumentation.
