Abstract
Organizations today operate in a dynamic environment where sustainability is not an optional consideration but a fundamental business necessity. The increasing focus on environmental responsibility and social consciousness compels organizations to integrate sustainability into their core strategies while maintaining their competitive edge. This study explores the critical role of leadership and organizational values in cultivating a culture of sustainability within organizations. The research investigates the interplay between leadership styles, organizational culture, and sustainable practices using a meta-analysis of peer-reviewed articles, industry reports, and sustainability leadership studies. Guided by stakeholder theory, transformational leadership theory, organizational culture theory, and the triple bottom line framework, this study identifies key drivers and barriers to sustainability implementation. The findings reveal that transformational leadership, stakeholder engagement, and deeply embedded organizational values are pivotal in driving sustainability initiatives. Conversely, cultural misalignment, resource constraints, and leadership resistance hinder progress. Practical implications include actionable strategies for leaders to integrate sustainability considerations into organizational values, develop targeted leadership programs, and foster stakeholder collaboration. The study also provides theoretical contributions by extending the understanding of stakeholder dynamics and identifying cultural elements supporting sustainability. This research underscores the importance of aligning leadership approaches and organizational values with sustainability goals to achieve long-term environmental, social, and economic benefits. Recommendations for future research include longitudinal studies on the persistence of sustainability initiatives, cross-cultural analyses of leadership styles, and the development of advanced tools for measuring sustainability outcomes. This study provides a robust foundation for academic inquiry and practical application, addressing the urgent need for sustainable transformation in today’s organizations.
