Abstract

The increasing influence of English on languages worldwide is a well-documented phenomenon, with languages ranging from widely spoken to minority languages incorporating English vocabulary. This article explores the phenomenon of English loanwords in the Karakalpak language, a Turkic language spoken in Uzbekistan, focusing on the reasons behind the borrowing of these words and their adaptation within the language. The study identifies key factors such as globalization, technological advancements, cultural exchange, and the prestige of English, which contribute to the increasing presence of English loanwords in Karakalpak. The article also examines the processes through which these loanwords are adapted to the phonological and morphological rules of Karakalpak.
