Abstract

This article explores the satirical and realist literary traditions represented by Charles Dickens in Victorian England and Gafur Gulom in Soviet Uzbekistan. Both authors utilise satire as a means of social critique; nonetheless, their contexts vary considerably. The research employs a comparative literary approach, placing both authors within the wider realist tradition and examining their perspectives on bureaucracy, law, hypocrisy, and collective mentalities.
