Abstract
The article examines the causes and processes of Anglicization the Ukrainian language in the context of the destructive phenomenon of barbarization (alienation) on the material of the website of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The main groups of borrowed lexical units and their specific Ukrainian equivalents are given. The problem of foreign vocabulary is the focus of the ethnopsychological, sociopolitical and language issues. The object of our research is the unprecedented wave of Anglicization as a global phenomenon, that in our post-totalitarian, post-genocidal and nationally weakened society, carries real threats for the lexical system of language and mentality of Ukrainians. Even after over three hundred years of onslaught of the Russian language under the slogan of internationalization, the Ukrainians have been caught in a trap of global Anglicization. The first twenty years of the third millennium mare the boom of Anglicisms in Ukrainian language. The source of the article's research is the use of Anglicisms in the educational discourse, in particular the program «MES Communication Strategy 2019–2021» and the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation website. The phenomenon of excessive Anglicizations considered in the context of the barbarization of the Ukrainian lexical system as a consequence of the colonial and postcolonial slow development of society. The basic sociopsychological factors of violation of the law of balance of foreign and specific words are revealed and the classification of borrowed Anglicisms are provided. As suggested by the MES official website, the Ukrainian language, firstly, can dispense with these borrowings, the vast majority of which have a Ukrainian equivalent as a translation unit and are not a term; secondly, the introduced Anglicisms do not reflect the Ukrainian ethnocultural need but over shadow the denotation by the foreign word, unclear to majority and create the appearance of something new; thirdly, proposed Anglicisms are used for the sake of pseudoscientific respect. The sociolinguistic dependence on borrowed Anglicisms give evidence of dependence of thinking of so-called educational Ukrainian elite, lack of national self-determination and knowledge of the Ukrainian language and, as a result, we get the lack of specific priorities and the slave's dependence on foreign words and concepts.
